We are celebrating my mother’s 80th birthday with a fundraiser for her little church which is one of the oldest Black churches in Louisiana (over 165 years old).

This church has so much significance to this rural Black community and it has deep meaning for my mother, Dr. Lillie-Frances Payne Liddell.

A little more about Locust Grove Baptist Church:
• Founded in 1860, three years before the Emancipation Proclamation by former slaves.
• Members of my maternal side of the family helped build and found it.
• Still serves a small church going community in Caldwell parish Louisiana.
